Brazil (Preview)

So AIESEC LC UI asked me to give them a few paragraphs of my experience in Brazil. For those of you who didn't know, I joined a Global Community Development Program from AIESEC. It was a 6-week program abroad, volunteering in a community project. I got accepted in Brazil, which was also my first choice :D Anyway, here's what I wrote to them. I will post more detailed stories about my adventure soon. For now, here's a preeeviiieeewwwww:

My experience in Brazil was truly unforgettable. I have gotten so many things from this exchange.

First of all, I've met great people, made great friends, and had a family of my own. AIESEC Franca was the local committee that held my project. There were two other projects held by the local committee and there were a total of 18 interns. Before we started the projects, we were given sessions to get to know each other and to help us prepare for the projects. Those sessions made us all so close with each other and made us great friends. I was also given a host family to stay with. We had meals together, watched movies, played games, and they took me out a lot. So I also had my own Brazilian family while I was there.

Next, I learned a lot about Brazilian culture. Six weeks might seem short, but it sure taught me how to live like a Brazilian; from what they eat to how they socialize with each other. I got everything from my observations and direct experiences on a daily basis.

Last and most importantly, I made a social impact to the community in the city I lived in. I have done four days of Global Village in two difference places. I gave English conversation classes with my partner from Russia for one month to university students. I did community service in the city centre for the hearing-impaired. I also gave presentations about Indonesia and shared my culture to my host father’s students.

To sum it all up, my exchange in Brazil was an experience of a lifetime. So thank you so much AIESEC for giving me this opportunity :)
